This is a very interesting and innovative product that I have come across and a genuinely helpful piece of kit for people that like performance driving but don't necessarily want to go to the hassle and expense of fitting a 4 point harness into their everyday road car. It's had rave reviews from all around the motoring press, so I thought I'd give it a go - and it's great!

What is it?
As you can see from the diagrams, it's a small metal clip device that attaches to the original car manufacturers seat belt without the need for drilling - it just simply clamps on. It can be fitted in just a couple of minutes and is unobtrusive as it can be switched on or off when required.

What does it do and how does it work?
It's a very simple idea - something that allows you to keep one element of the performance driving equation consistent - your arse staying still on the seat! When the slide on the CG-Lock is set to the 'On' position it holds the bottom part of your seatbelt firmly in place, but the top part still reacts as normal. Once it's switched on, you just give the top belt a little tug (pictured) and it all firms up - perfect!

How can it help me?
Although it's not usually a problem during during 'normal' everyday driving, when you start driving fast G-Levels obviously increase and any objects in the car tend to move around - especially the driver! To counteract this, your muscles in your arms & legs form a brace, but obviously this can lead to two things happening: Greater fatigue and Reduction in feel. Driving fast demands a lot of concentration (most people sleep very well after a day on track!) and anything that can help reduce loss of energy in other areas will logically allow the driver to focus for longer levels of time. To get the most out of your car at speed, you need to be as subtle and relaxed as possible - if your muscles are BRACING, then they're not FEELING!

I have found the CG-Lock very useful, particularly for so-called sports seats that in some cars look great, but really don't do the job they're designed for (including surprisingly many of the more expensive ones). And for leather seats, it's an absolute godsend!

While the CG-Lock is not sold as a safety device, it has been designed and tested not to interfere with the safety of your seat belt.

The CG-Lock is designed to fit most vehicles. The CG-Lock is not designed however to work with vehicle seat belt systems that use a multi-pass seat belt tongue. Please see the illustration below. The manufacturers are currently working on a future version of the CG-Lock that will be compatible with multi-pass seat belt tongues.
