Michelin Clio Scholarship 2000

Anthony Dunn successfully made it through to the finals of the Michelin Clio Scholarship 2000. Competing against an initial entry of 350 competitors, the scholarship was held over 3 rounds during the winter months to select the most successful 10 to compete in the final on Sunday 25th February. The finalists battled it out over the course of the weekend under the watchful eye of scholarship
co-ordinator & International GT driver Tim Sugden.

Anthony set the fastest lap of the weekend on Saturday's pre-final, a time that was marginally quicker than the unofficial benchmark time set by Tim Sugden!

The finals were covered by Sky TV & Granda television made a 'fly on the wall' documentary. Apart from the driving, contestants had an interview with panelists scrutinising their motivations for competing in the scholarship.

"I felt that the weekend went fantastically well; the panel scrutiny, media interviews and driving, apart from the last session in which I don't think I showed myself in true colours - I was too reserved." said Anthony "It's this that I felt lost me the scholarship. I knew I had to be much quicker than the other guys because of my competition background. But instead of just driving tidily to impress the instructor, I should have done a "banzai" qualifying lap to get a good lap time!".
