For Immediate Release: Joy and despair in Wales
Van Gessel Racing pair Anthony Dunn and Matthew van Gessel experienced the highs & lows of motorsport at Pembrey, Wales. The Double Header weekend started well with Anthony qualifying fourth, revelling in the wet conditions despite handling difficulties. In the second qualifying session, he could only manage 11th as the conditions dried and handling deteriorated. Dunn took full opportunity of his first race qualfying position to make a barnstorming start to lead into the first corner. Anthony goes for the lead!
However, he spent the race fighting against the car's handling (and other competitors!) and gradually dropped back through the field.
The race ended in disaster as Matthew made a mistake whilst defending his place spinning into a tyre wall at over 100 MPH. A promising weekend was cut short as the car was too badly damaged to repair for the 2nd race.
