Anthony
& Barry retake the lead!

Anthony & Barry Gates retook the Radical Enduro SR3
championship lead at Pembrey in the Penultimate round of
the British Championship.
Having
closed the gap to just 8 points away from Phil Bailey at
Croft 3 weeks previously, the pair were once again on form.
Racing just 3 weeks after breaking his collar bone in a
motorbike accident at Silverstone, Anthony qualified on
a clear class pole ahead of Biduro star & team mate
Ross Allen, with a time that lined them up 4th overall on
the grid for race 1 & 3rd for race 2 just a few tenths
behind the mighty Radical SR8's!

In
the first race, Barry drove a confident opening stint underlying
his progress as a driver in difficult wet conditions to
lead the class initially. However, contact with Allen spun
the pair of them down the order, but both recovered well
to hand over to their team mates - Allen to Phil Baily and
Barry to Anthony with the duo still in touch with the field.
Anthony demoted Phil for 2nd place and took fastest lap
but was too far away from class leader James Harrison to
take the win & instead settled for the points for 2nd.

In
the second race, Barry once again started and did well to
avoid an incident at the first corner which dropped him
out of the class lead. He battled well with the front runner,
but 'kept his head' to bring the car home in a close 4th
place. A slick pitstop was made by Team RPM and Anthony
soon took 2nd place and a championship leading position.
Phil
Bailey's car broke down on the racing line on the exit of
Hatchett hairpin 10 minutes from the end of the race and
the ensuing
safety car came between class leader James Harrison &
Anthony, robbing any chance of victory.
"It's
sad for Phil to break down as we want the battle to be fought
on the track" said Anthony "After the having had
the same for us at Donington twice, we know how he feels".
Anthony
& Barry now have a 23 point lead over Phil going into
the final round at Brands Hatch where a 3rd & 4th place
position in class will ensure them the title.
