Subaru
Launch North America Summer 2003
Anthony
made his second trip stateside as one of a team of 16 British
consultant instructors for Subaru America. The Japanese
car manufacturer was launching 3 models to their USA dealers:
the 4x4 'Forester Turbo', the recreational 'Baja'
and the flagship sportscar 'Impreza STi'.

The
tour started off at Firebird Raceway near Phoenix in the
blazing heat of the Arizona desert. Working in heat of sometimes
up to 116 degrees farenheight the team were happy that all
cars had air conditioning! The activities included instructing
the dealership staff around several circuit configurations
in the STi's, demonstrating the new Baja and
driving a road route in the new Forester Turbo.
The
tour then headed North East to a slightly cooler Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. The activies were based at Beaver Run
a twisting, undulating road course set among a forest. The
venue was was extremely popular with the staff & delegates
not just for it's challenging nature, but also for the beautiful
scenery.
Each
group of visitors were treated to a 2 lap video taped hot-ride
in an STi where the British visitors demonstrated
the superlative power & terrific handling of the car.

The
tour was extremely popular with the American delegates and
the British guests received much praise for their work.
